Changelly’s API: how does it work

Changelly Affiliate Program features a referral link, payment button, banners and customizable widget for every our regular user. These tools allow gaining the 50% forever lasting revenue share for each transaction other users make via either of them.

But what’s in that for you, if you run a business and develop your own product? Changelly provides API for all crypto enthusiasts who run a project, whether it’s a cryptocurrency wallet or marketplace. Your users will be able to swap between cryptos right within the interface of your product. And you will get a revenue for each transaction performed this way.

Difference between API and Affiliate Program

Unlike the API, Affiliate tools represent an HTML source code you can integrate into your crypto/IT related blog, website or post on social media. Basically, this is a simple method to provide visitors with payment options and monetize the flow. These tools can be used by any individual who is registered on Changelly without prior notification.

The API, in turn, is a mechanism tightly integrated into the product interface that maintains exchange processes. It is designed mostly for service providers, such as cryptocurrency wallets, marketplaces or crowdfunding platforms.

Changelly’s API uses the same algorithms as the website, so your users don’t need to go to the website for exchanging crypto. Instead, they initiate a transaction and all manipulations related only on your service. The API acts as a hidden engine enabling your users to easily exchange their coins or make purchases.

Example

Blockmarket is one of crypto marketplaces that works with Changelly’s API. The marketplace has its native SYS token and works similarly to eBay, so you can buy goods here for SYS. The API integrated allows using any coin supported on Changelly itself that is automatically converted into SYS in a seamless way. Thus, the API payment options for Blockmarket users and gives additional benefits to the product team.

Your benefits from our API

Unlike Affiliate tools that provide 50% of our revenue, API commission fee is charged differently. You can set up any commission fee you find reasonable to charge your customers with.

To get this fee assigned to all the transactions to be made via our API, you’ll just need to contact our product team at pro@changelly.com providing them with the link to your service and specifying the fee percentage you suggest. It’s important to keep in mind that Changelly fee will be charged as well, so the full amount charged from your customers’ transactions will make your own customizable fee plus 0.5%, charged by Changelly.

Who works with Changelly’s API?

We are partnered with plenty of well-known crypto projects that successfully work with our API. Below are some of them.

Wallets

  • BRD
  • Myceluim
  • Official NEM/XEM
  • Coinomi
  • Coinpayments
  • Naga

Marketplaces and other platforms

  • Syscoin
  • Particl
  • Zcoin
  • AeronCoin

More integrations to come!

How to integrate API?

Please find our code examples at GitHub. The main step-by-step guide on how to use the API is available on the Changelly website. In case anything remains unclear, do not hesitate to contact our team at pro@changelly.com so they can lead you through the process.

Support for EOS Everipedia (IQ) Airdrop

Bitfinex is pleased to announce support for the upcoming Everipedia (IQ) airdrop. The airdrop will be based on the June 2nd 21:59:59 UTC EOS Mainnet Snapshot as reported by Everipedia team.

Everipedia Inc. (IQ) is a technology company based in California, best known for building the first encyclopedia on the blockchain. With over 6 million articles published, it’s the world’s largest English encyclopedia by content. Everipedia is free from ads and free to use for everyone, under creative commons.

The IQ token will be used to vote on protocol upgrades whilst incentivising further submissions or modifications to the Everipedia’s database of articles. Editors may gain privileges as they accumulate IQ and rise through the Everipedia ranks.

Airdrop Distribution Policy

Everipedia (IQ) tokens will be distributed based on the settled EOS wallet balances as they were on June 2nd 21:59:59 UTC, the time the EOS Mainnet Snapshot was taken.

The methodology for determining a settled balance includes:

    • All calculations will use a database snapshot from June 2nd.

    • All net unhedged EOS wallet balances will receive IQ. For example, if at the instant of the airdrop in June a user had a wallet balance of 5.0 EOS and was short 2.0 EOS/XXX, their net unhedged balance at that moment was 3.0 EOS.

    • Margin longs in EOS/XXX and margin shorts in XXX/EOS will not receive IQ.

    • Margin shorts in EOS/XXX and margin longs in XXX/EOS will not pay IQ.

    • EOS lenders will receive IQ.

Due to the large positive net amount of EOS committed in margin positions at the time of the airdrop, the above methodology results in Bitfinex seeing a surplus of IQ. As such, we will be resolving this discrepancy in the form of a socialized distribution coefficient.

In this particular case, the IQ distribution coefficient is computed to be ~1.1. Please keep in mind that the final coefficient will be confirmed as the airdrop becomes effective on the EOS blockchain. Since the IQ airdrop is 5.1 IQ for each EOS, the resulting calculation yields ~5.61 IQ per EOS for qualifying balances. Please note that if there were more shorts than longs at the moment of the snapshot, the distribution coefficient would have been less than one.

Bitfinex & Connamara Release Digital Asset FIX Gateway

We are pleased to announce a collaboration with Connamara, the premier provider of matching engine technology, to deliver an open-source FIX (Financial Information eXchange) digital asset gateway for professional traders wishing to enter the digital asset markets.

With the successful deployment of the FIX gateway, our aim is to facilitate improved access to digital asset liquidity for brokers, institutions, and professional traders around the world.

Bitfinex & Connamara Release Digital Asset FIX Gateway

Created in the early 1990s, Financial Information eXchange (FIX) is an industry standard electronic communications protocol that facilitates data transfer between financial institutions. As a non-proprietary protocol, FIX is a common language spoken by many existing institutional client systems and frameworks. Using standard messages supported by a FIX gateway, the time and effort required by institutional traders to connect to Bitfinex, or any other digital asset liquidity provider, is significantly reduced.

Paolo Ardoino, Bitfinex CTO, commented “We are proud to be able to provide next-level access to global cryptocurrency markets. Through this collaboration we aim to combine Connamara’s financial technology expertise with our experience to improve the efficiency of digital asset markets and allow for streamlined access to cryptocurrency trading.”

It has been a pleasure to work with Bitfinex on this project. They have been a pioneering firm in the digital asset markets since 2012 and it is exciting to collaborate with them as they lead the way in the adoption of the FIX protocol for their rapidly growing industry.” commented Daniel Curry, Head of Business Development at Connamara.

The digital asset FIX gateway is entirely open-source, transparent and available for the greater community to contribute to. The FIX gateway documentation is available here. Institutions interested in testing out our FIX gateway, whether traditional or digital-asset focused, can contact gateway-support@connamara.com to learn more. Connamara will work with Bitfinex to ensure seamless and trouble-free testing and integration of the FIX gateway.
